One of the things I love most about being a photographer here in Dumont, NJ is getting to meet incredible women from all over Bergen County—including Rochelle Park, Saddle River, Ridgewood, Franklin Lakes, Wyckoff, and beyond—who decide to do something truly special for themselves.

Today I’m thrilled to share Nohemy’s story

Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a gorgeous Latina client who wanted to celebrate her 43rd birthday in a way she’d never done before: with a luxury, all-about-her photoshoot in my studio.

We had never met before. She arrived a little shy, saying, “I don’t know if I can do this.” And that’s so normal.

For so many of us—especially women balancing motherhood, careers, being the family logistics manager, and the emotional support system for husbands and kids—it can feel strange to step into the spotlight just for ourselves. But that’s exactly why I love these sessions so much.

From Shy to Salsa Queen

She brought her best friend along for moral support (highly recommended, by the way—it’s always more fun!). At first, she was reserved, a little unsure of how to pose or whether she was “doing it right.”

But something magical happens in these sessions.

We turned on some salsa music in my Dumont studio, and little by little, her confidence blossomed. She started smiling bigger, striking bolder poses—and then we really turned up the music.

By the middle of the shoot, we were dancing salsa together between shots. Laughing. Capturing genuine joy and all that incredible energy that makes her who she is. Those are the moments I live for as a photographer.

Happy 42nd Birthday! ¡Feliz cumpleaños! May you always dance to your own rhythm, share that incredible joy with everyone around you, and never forget just how stunning you are. Thank you for trusting me to capture your beautiful spirit. The world is brighter with your fire in it.
